William Morris once commented: “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
Wall paper is a cheap alternative for expensive art tiles, however, these tiles could be very attractive if framed and used as a tool to accentuate the different properties of these two materials.

These luxuriously rich textured tiles were delicately carved by Hele’ , partly painted, then bisque fired, reworked and the final detail hand painted.
The techniques used here are time consuming which make these tiles very expensive. But the price paid will be little compared to the constant joy it will provide for centuries to come.
These initial 200 x 200mm art tiles will be the R&D period and in time we hope to achieve some larger scale work.
Our studio is intend on producing tiles of this quality, but as commodities and collectibles and not as a cheap decor alternative. These art tiles have soul and will endear most individuals who treasure well crafted, one of a kind products.

What a time consuming and no doubt expensive procedure but the end result is breathtakingly beautiful! These are surely collectables and should certainly not be seen as cheap alternative for something else! I can imagine how striking even just one of these beauties all on its own on a piece of blank wall will be.
Also, the lovely, soft colours used give these tiles something ethereal. Helé must be a birdwatcher and -lover to be able to create our little friends so lifelike. These creations once again, is proof of your enormous artistic qualities, Helé. I cannot wait to see what next you have in store for us!

Hele’ has registered with Birdlife South Africa and will develop her birds and Cape floral kingdom into something worth collecting. If the funds and time are available we would soon see a large scale work!!

I can only hope the funds will be available very soon so that Helé can start on a collection of birds and flowers of the Cape. On our next visit to South Africa instead of buying presents for all the people at home, I will spoil myself instead and bring home only things from your studio so I can also be one of the proud and happy owners who have your work on display in their homes here in Europe. My dinner service to this day is still almost the main point of discussion around the dinner table during meals. Still unique and still as beautiful as the day we fetched it at Schiphol Airport.
Carry on with the good work, you three!!

Helé moes dit sekerlik onglooflik baie geniet het om hierdie wonderwerkies te maak. Dit lyk of die klein sysies enige oomblik hulle vlerkies kan sprei en vlieg, van my gunstelinge!
